The Ananda magnetostatic headphones replace the Edition X model in HIFIMAN’s portfolio and are another culmination of years of research, development and experience. Inside it, ultra-thin diaphragms of the latest generation perform lightning-fast work. The NEO “supernano” diaphragm called films are again 80% thinner than previous developments. Just 1 to 2 microns thick, they respond faster, in more detail, and play more musically than ever. This is combined with even more powerful magnets, resulting in increased magnetic field strength at the level of the Membrane. The finest details are presented in complete matter-of-factness without ever drifting into the annoying. In comparison, classic dynamic headphones sound as if they were playing with the handbrake on.
The Ananda’s characteristic sound pressure level is 103 dB, enabling impressive sound even at low output voltages. The headphones can also be used with smartphones or portable music players without significant distortion and with excellent sound quality. However, the Ananda shows its full potential when connected to a high-quality headphone amplifier or the headphone output of a good hi-fi amplifier. Here, its powerful, warm and excellently balanced sound unfolds on a wide stage.
With 399 g, the handset is lightweight and does not disturb even during long use. The headband and driver mounts have been redesigned to maximize comfort and ease of use. The main objective here was to save weight so that the Ananda would sit comfortably on the head despite the more elaborate magnetic structure. The asymmetrical ear pads follow the natural shape of the ear. The headband is made of flexible steel and can be adjusted to fit the head size. The two included cables are very flexible, do not tend to get knotted and transmit even strong structure-borne sound excitations only minimally.
