Technics SC-C70MK2 – An overview

The premium compact system with CD, amplifier, DAB+ and Internet radio supports Apple Airplay 2 and Google Chromecast for multi-room.

Speakernewly developed and combined with acoustic lens

Just like its predecessor, the SC-C70MK2 shines with a 2.1-channel speaker system and a 12-cm subwoofer. The new 8cm woofer unit has a lighter voice coil, while airflow has been improved and diaphragm stiffness increased.

The hi-res dome tweeters have silk diaphragms that ensure excellent internal damping and smooth sound characteristics. The new tweeter is combined with an acoustic lens whose shape has been optimized. Thanks to the woofer unit, the sound spreads out supported by a solid low-frequency foundation.

Space Tune™

The sound environment is also a factor influencing the sound image. For optimal sound quality, the SC-C70 uses Space Tune™ calibration software. It corrects parameters via its own network and adapts the sound to the respective room environment. Space Tune™ has three presets (free, near-wall and near-corner) and also offers the use of the “Technics Audio Center App” to precisely adjust the sound quality to the listening position.

JENO Digital Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise Shaping Optimisation)

Three JENO engines (Jitter Elimination and Noise-Shaping Optimization) minimize digital jitter. The result is crystal clear playback quality without distortion. Thus, all music information of the source is reproduced realistically in high resolution without losses. The woofer and tweeter/midrange units are operated separately, while high-performance signal processing (DSP) ensures accurate channel separation and correction of frequency characteristics.

Three preset types are available – choose according to placement.

Precise customization using the Technics Audio Center app (with an iOS device).
The app measures the actual frequency response and adjusts it to the room situation.

Multi-room

The Chromecast feature supports many music streaming services via a smartphone app. The data is streamed directly to the main device without affecting the sound quality. If there is a Google Assistant device on the same network, it can be used to operate music playback and other functions.

If the user does not have a smartphone app at hand, the music can simply be played by voice command. Speaker paired with Chromecast can play music from streaming services in multiple rooms simultaneously or differently from room to room. When using the “Technics Audio Center App” in combination with another app compatible with Technics, other music sources such as Bluetooth, AUX, optical input, USB, Internet radio can be used in multiple rooms.

Favorites function

Up to nine presets can be set on the main unit, such as favorite Internet radio stations, a DEEZER playlist, and USB songs. This makes it possible to listen to your favorite music without having to launch an app.

Full compatibility

Whether CDs, radio and numerous music streaming services via integrated Chromecast – there are no limits to the variety. In addition, Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, Internet radio, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth Wi-Fi, network playback, USB storage and the analog/optical input can be used. The user interface of the iOS/Android smartphone app, “Technics Audio Center App”, has also been redesigned to be even easier to use.
