Perfect sound

The PA 8.3 modular flagship preamplifier is once again the most elaborate preamplifier model in the OVATION line. Consistent attention is paid to only one thing here: Perfect sound. Just as musicians have wanted their original songs to be. Achieving this goal is an enormously difficult undertaking that requires a great deal of musical sensitivity, the kind that has been at home at AVM since 1986. The goal of this engineering is to translate this musicality into devices for playback at home. The predecessor model PA 8.2 has already been awarded many reference titles and prizes worldwide and serves many musicians as a listening instrument as well as a permanent reference work for renowned trade magazines and editors. The new PA 8.3 will certainly be on par with its predecessor.

The best is just good enough!

The mono and stereo power amplifiers of AVM OVATION’s flagship series have long been among the best power amplifiers in the world. The demand for a 100% accurate PA 8.3 preamplifier was once again enormously high and at the same time simple: it simply had to be perfect.

However, in realizing the third generation of the flagship analog and modular preamplifier OVATION, AVM was not just about defending this title as one of the world’s best preamplifiers: We have developed numerous new technologies and experience in recent years. Engineers have used the latest and greatest components to get even closer to the tonal ideal. The motto: The best is just good enough!

Completely new modular design

To push it even further, AVM set out to build a preamplifier that could grow with the rapidly evolving computer hi-fi and the increasing demands on traditional analog amplifiers over the long term. The PA 8.3, for example, is based on a completely new, modular design. As with the first generation of 8-series preamplifiers, this modular concept allows the PA 8.3 to be continuously expanded and adapted to personal needs with additional plug-in modules, or the latest technological modules can be conveniently retrofitted. The appearance of the PA 8.3 is exactly matched to all power amplifiers of OVATION’s flagship series.

The modular concept of the OVATION PA 8.3

The PA 8.3 consists of two parts: The basic device and the modules. The basic unit carries the newly developed and highly complex linear power supply, as well as the processor-based control system for all functions and all modules, which can be combined and assembled in virtually any way to meet individual requirements.

The base unit automatically detects which plug-in modules are installed and adjusts all menu functions of the base unit accordingly. Adding further modules, exchanging or re-plugging modules on the back of the PA 8.3 is therefore child’s play and can be done quickly and easily.
