DALI Sound Hub Compact
Almost any audio source can be connected to the SOUND HUB COMPACT via the five discrete inputs. The TV sound is received via an HDMI input, music streaming from smartphone, tablet or PC is possible via the integrated Bluetooth module and analog and digital preamplifier inputs are available for other audio sources.
The HDMI-ARC interface of the SOUND HUB COMPACT is used to play back a TV audio signal. It also supports CEC, so the TV’s remote control can be used to adjust the volume, mute, and turn the SOUND HUB COMPACT on and off in sync with the TV.
In an active wireless hi-fi system consisting of two Oberon C, Callisto C or Rubicon C speaker, the Sound Hub Compact takes on the role of conductor. It is mainly designed for Bluetooth audio and HDMI connections to TVs.
It accepts audio signals wired or via Bluetooth and transmits them wirelessly to the Speaker. As the name suggests, the Sound Hub Compact is a particularly dainty streaming hub – it can even be hidden behind a wall-mounted TV.
Optical digital inputs
The 1st optical digital input is intended for CD players and other digital sources. It is activated by an applied audio signal. A TV set with an optical digital output can be connected to the second optical S/PDIF input of the SOUND HUB COMPACT. This input is activated by the carrier signal. Even before the screen lights up, the Sound Hub turns on the OBERON C, CALLISTO and RUBICON C speakers so that TV sound playback can begin without any delay.
The Bluetooth module integrated in the Sound Hub Compact supports the high-resolution codecs AAC and aptX HD and allows locally stored or streamed music to be played easily and quickly via smartphones, tablets, laptop or desktop computers or other Bluetooth audio sources. Even Bluetooth-equipped TVs can be used to create a completely wireless TV audio solution.
The analog subwoofer output, which is also volume-controlled, supplies an active subwoofer connected here with all low-frequency signals below 100 Hz if required. The Sound Hub Compact automatically detects when the subwoofer output is in use and filters out frequencies transmitted to the main speakers below 80 Hz to allow for higher speaker power handling.
USB power supply
The Sound Hub Compact has a USB-A socket that is primarily intended for service and diagnostic purposes. But it can also be used to charge a mobile device or power a streaming device like Amazon Echo or Google ChromeCast Audio. If its audio output is connected to the Sound Hub Compact, the Oberon C audio system can also be operated by voice control.
Infrared signal receiver
Included with the Sound Hub Compact is a separate wired infrared receiver that can be used when operating the hub hidden in a cabinet. The connection is made at the back of the hub, in which case the integrated IR receiver of the Sound Hub Compact is automatically deactivated.
The SOUND HUB COMPACT analog line input is intended for connecting conventional audio sources such as CD players or preamplifiers. turntable can be connected directly if they are equipped with a high level output or a phono preamplifier is used.
The audio signals delivered via the analog input are converted to a 24 bit / 96 kHz digital format – a resolution that is significantly higher than the CD format. Note: If you want to stream music or radio programs from the Internet or integrate the OBERON C Speaker in a multi-room system, you will find the DALI SOUND HUB incl. BluOS module the control unit suitable for this purpose (see in the RUBICON C and CALLISTO C series).
