DESCRIPTION

The OPTICON 8 is the flagship of the series and is equipped with two 200 mm woofers for deep bass, a 165 mm midrange driver and the DALI hybrid tweeter. It consists of a particularly lightweight fabric dome and a 17×45 mm ribbon. This hybrid tweeter unit, already proven in various DALI series, provides a particularly airy, spatial and finely resolved sound image.

The impressive 3 + 1.2-way system fills even larger living rooms with a full and powerful bass, a harmonious midrange and detailed treble. The OPTICON 8 is the ultimate Speaker for music lovers with the highest demands.

SMC MAGNET SYSTEM

In order to comply with the DALI sound principles of the lowest possible losses, low distortion and minimal coloration, the DALI engineers specially designed a magnet drive for the bass-midrange drivers with pole pieces made of the powdered magnet material SMC (Soft Magnetic Compounds). SMC’s unique ability to combine high magnetic conductivity with very low electrical conductivity ensures that fewer eddy current fields form on the surface of the pole piece, allowing the OPTICON woofers to vibrate virtually free of the heat generation and resistance normally caused by these magnetic fields.

HYBRID TWEETER

DALI’s hybrid tweeter consists of a particularly lightweight fabric dome and a 17 x 45 mm ribbon. This hybrid tweeter unit, already proven in various DALI series, provides a particularly airy, spatial and finely resolved sound image.

DEEP THOUGHTS

Consisting of wood fibers and a special paper mixture, reddish shimmering membranes are the striking feature of all OPTICON speakers. They are both extremely lightweight and stable, and have very low surface resonance. Soft and particularly flexible rubber surrounds ensure unhindered diaphragm movement and thus a detailed and dynamic sound. Two 200 mm woofers provide a powerful and deep bass, a 165 mm midrange driver takes over the reproduction of all frequencies between about 400 and 2,300 Hertz.

In conjunction with the pole piece consisting of SMC, which reduces disturbing eddy currents to a minimum and eliminates distortion due to hysteria, DALI’s OPTICON bass-midrange drivers enable unparalleled listening pleasure with both music and film soundtracks.

HOUSING

In order to be able to produce the OPTICON series with the quality you have come to expect from DALI, we use our extensive and efficient woodworking facilities in our Danish factory. The complete cabinet, from cutting the medium-density fiberboard (MDF) to applying the vinyl foils, takes place directly at DALI. The assembly of the drivers and the final inspection of each Speakeralso takes place directly on the production lines of the Danish DALI factory.

All OPTICON models are available in three variations: satin white, black ash and walnut with high-gloss white or black baffles.
