Dual moving magnet stereo pickup
Standard pickup with Microlinear needle. This pickup is characterized by low distortion even in the inner area of the record, since the radius of curvature does not change even when the tip of the needle is worn.
Audio-Technica’s internationally patented dual-magnet design principle is modeled after the design of a record-cutting head.
Instead of a single large magnet, two V-shaped magnets are precisely aligned to accurately sample the right and left channels of the stereo groove edges. In this way, a VM system ensures outstanding channel separation, extended frequency response, and first-class sampling capability.
System with Para Toroid Generator
Para-toroidal coils improve generator efficiency and offer outstanding linearity, since the continuous, symmetrical design of the magnetic circuit allows only a small portion of the magnetic flux to escape (leakage flux). In addition, the permeability of the magnetic cores is optimized by the laminated core structure.
Middle shielding plate for reduced crosstalk
The center permalloy shielding plate provides effective separation of the left and right channels and suppresses electrical crosstalk up to 40 dB. This corresponds approximately to the actual crosstalk values of a record groove.

The microlinear-ground diamond needle ensures better treble scanning, less wear, and less distortion than elliptical or conventional line-contact needles.
