Cambridge Audio Alva ST
Now all you need is a record
Records are simply something special: the tactile pleasure of taking a record out of its sleeve and carefully putting it on is unique. Cambridge Audio has developed the Alva TT to honor this tradition, and the Alva ST to share this pleasure with more people.
The belt-driven Alva ST features a factory-preloaded cartridge that lets you play records in minutes, as well as high-resolution Bluetooth streaming and a built-in phono preamp that can be freely switched between. Everyone should be able to enjoy the freedom that the Alva offers.
King of comfort
The Alva ST is designed for people who want to listen to records in exceptional quality – without having to select or install additional components. The Alva ST is easy to use because the perfectly tuned pickup is pre-installed at the factory. What’s more, it can be connected to just about any audio system, because the Alva ST has a built-in phono preamp that can be switched off. And that’s not all: you can also connect it wirelessly with Bluetooth speaker systems.
High resolution Bluetooth turntables
The integrated Bluetooth aptX HD frees the Alva from the rest of your HiFi system and allows you to showcase your Alva system on any flat surface – because your records deserve to be the center of attention. Music can be streamed at up to 24-bit/48 kHz high-resolution quality to any compatible Bluetooth system, including headphones. Alternatively, you can disable it and simply use a phono cable – the choice is yours.
Integrated phono preamplifier
The Alva ST features an integrated phono preamplifier, modeled after Cambridge Audio’s award-winning Alva Duo, that brings out incredible detail from your records. This allows you to connect the Alva ST to any amplifier or compatible speaker system. The system’s phono preamp can also be disabled – ideal if your amplifier already has one of its own, or if you want to keep the option of upgrading open.
Factory pre-installed MM cartridge
After intensive listening tests, Cambridge Audio decided to use Audio Technica’s moving-magnet cartridge, which is factory-installed in the Alva ST. With no complicated setup, you can be playing records in minutes. The elliptical needle provides a larger contact area with the grooves of your records, ensuring precise reproduction of information and, of course, great sounding music.
Belt drive on the Cambridge Audio Alva ST
The Alva ST uses the proven method of belt drive supplemented by electronic motor speed control. After you have attached the belt for the first time, you no longer need to look under the platter. The rotation speed is adjusted via 2 handy electronic buttons on the ST’s aluminum surface – so you can effortlessly switch between album and single playback.
The platter of the Alva ST is made of die-cast aluminum and is CNC machined to ensure an absolutely flat and smooth surface. The 17 mm high aluminum platter is covered with a 5 mm thick rubber mat – a combination that has been proven to reduce unwanted resonances.
Brand new tone arm
After hours of testing, Cambridge Audio’s engineers have selected a new high-mass, low-resonance tonearm for the Alva TT V2 and Alva ST. By minimizing resonant frequencies and in combination with the pickup, it brings out the maximum detail from your records. A removable die-cast aluminum pickup head makes it easy to replace the pickup, which can then be adjusted even more precisely thanks to a new anti-skating knob.
Design for life
You have a record collection for life, so why not a turntable? We have therefore designed the Alva ST with this in mind. The chassis consists of a 1 mm thick aluminum plate and an EVA layer that dampens vibrations and rests on an MDF board. It weighs a stately 9 kg and is housed in a composite chassis. This is not only reassuringly solid, but also dampens unwanted vibrations.
Timeless style, straight from London
With a metallic gray aluminum top and matte black base that blends into our trademark floating wedge base, the Alva ST shares our signature minimalist style. It combines perfectly with Cambridge Audio’s All-in-One Evo amplifiers. Designed and made in London with a focus on classic, timeless style.
Dust does not sleep
Thanks to the hinged dust cover, the finely balanced tonearm and aluminum platter of your new Alva turntable will remain pristine even after playing your favorite records. It is easy to raise, lower, remove and reattach – the choice is yours.
