    "This is where the fun begins among the VM 95's pickups. The elliptically naked pickup has less moving mass than its smaller brother and gets more information out of the groove. However, those who can invest 30 EUR more should treat themselves to the ingenious VM95ML. "

    VM95 series – stereo pickup, elliptical/naked

    The AT-VM95EN has a bare, elliptical diamond needle with a round shank, which is ground from one piece and inserted directly into the needle carrier. In this way, a lighter, stiffer transmission system can be realized than with a set diamond needle with a titanium round shank, as in the AT-VM95E. The bare diamond needle is a lot more expensive, but it also offers audibly better audio quality with particularly high fidelity in treble reproduction and excellent impulse response.

    VM95 Series – Pickup Compatibility Chart

    Even the best diamond needle wears out after some time – conical needles after about 500 hours, elliptical after 300 hours, microlinear needles after 1000 hours, and Shibata needles after about 800 hours.

    For this reason, we designed our VM95 series dual-moving-magnet cartridges so that the styli can be interchanged and the cartridge itself can be used almost indefinitely. So if the stylus is worn out, you don’t need to buy a new cartridge, just the right replacement stylus – or you can upgrade your system with another, higher-quality stylus.

    All six VM95 cartridge models have the same electromagnetic drive unit (cabinet). Therefore, the six scanning needles of this series are also 100% compatible.

    Mounting without nuts

    VM95 series cartridges have two M2.6 threaded inserts that allow installation on the tonearm or (replaceable) headshell without nuts. Each pickup comes with four M2.6 screws (2 x 8 mm and 2 x 11 mm) and two plastic washers.

    Elliptical bare needle

    An elliptical diamond needle follows the deflections of the record groove with greater precision compared to a conical needle, allowing for better frequency response with higher phase fidelity and lower distortion.
