Cambridge Audio DUO
Vinyl as it should sound
Whether you’re dusting off your record collection or turning to analog music in the wake of the vinyl revival it is a unique experience when you put the needle on your favorite album. To preserve the unique warmth of vinyl sound, the Duo phono preamplifier has been carefully engineered with a state-of-the-art switching power supply and a new surface mount circuit board layout to reduce unwanted noise rustling.
Why a dedicated phono preamplifier?
Due to the weak signals generated by a turntable, not all hi-fi amplifiers can be connected directly to a turntable. The phono preamplifier boosts this signal to a level that a power amplifier can work with. The challenge at this stage, however, is that noise rustling can easily be added.
That’s why we’ve equipped the Duo with exceptional components that deliver the warm, detailed sound synonymous with vinyl without distorting the signal from your moving-magnet turntable. The switching power supply improves performance by switching outside the audible frequency to dramatically reduce hum, and the new board layout uses surface mount components to reduce noise rustling.
Vinyl. Only for you
Enjoy the warmth of vinyl in private thanks to Duo’s built-in headphone output. We’ve integrated a 6.35mm headphone jack directly into the phono stage so you can enjoy your records even when you don’t have the option to play them out loud.
The integrated headphone output also means you don’t have to turn on your amplifier just to power your headphones, resulting in a greener listening experience.
Attention to detail
If some records in your collection are a bit worn, the subsonic filter will help eliminate low-frequency rumble that can be caused by imperfections in your vinyl.
Combined with the balance control, which compensates for potential pickup imbalances in your turntable (which can cause a difference between the left and right channels), the result is a detailed sound experience with an accurate soundstage.
Environmentally friendly
The Duo phono preamplifier is an environmentally friendly device with a standby consumption of less than half a watt and an automatic shutdown function if the device is not used for 20 minutes. This in turn ensures that the device can be operated worldwide with the same voltage, no matter where in the world you are.
