AVM ROTATION R 30.3
The AVM R 30.3
The first turntable were almost 32 years in the making. AMV calls it ROTATION. The AVM R 30.3 is the newest member of the AVM turntable family and offers a perfect analog complement to the AVM 30 line of turntables introduced as frame AVM’s 30th anniversary. The typical AVM design language has been elegantly incorporated, making the device suitable not only as a complement to existing AVM systems, but also as an entry into the analog AVM world.
The story behind the R30.3
The success story began at High End 2018 with the presentation of two AVM turntable: the top model ROTATION R 5.3 sets numerous technical and innovative accents in terms of turntable. One example is the elaborate Elipso-Centric belt drive. Not only the platter, but above all the 10″ tonearm developed by AVM and made of highly polished aluminum components are tonal, technical and aesthetic delicacies of the R 5.3. R 2.3 was released at the same time as R 5.3, which now serves as a direct source of ideas for the development of the new AVM R 30.3. Based on design features of the R 2.3, the R 30.3 takes some clear ideas from this model. The highlight of the R 30.3 is the identically adopted 9″ tonearm with its sophisticated detail solutions. This tone arm is a complete AVM design. It effortlessly supports all known scanning systems on the world market.
Powerful sound
The sturdy, ultra-lightweight tonearm is based on a solid, refined aluminum tube. Together with the stable and precise tonearm bearing, it forms the basis for a powerful sound. The silicone-damped counterweight effectively prevents micro-vibrations from being reflected back towards the tonearm and pickup system, guaranteeing a pure, clearly defined sound image.
Materials used
Common to all rotation turntable models are the frame, which are made of heavy composite material (in various thicknesses). These frame are made of cement-powdered HDF, bonded with hand-ground anodized aluminum parts for additional stiffening. The use of these different materials creates a vibration-damping sandwich construction that provides a virtually resonance-free, solid base for the frosted and internally illuminated acrylic turntable. The precise upside-down bearings are further precision parts that are largely responsible for the remarkable smoothness of the R 30.3. An intelligent, fully electronic look-forward servo control lets the platter rotate precisely and constantly.
