Dynaudio Contour 20i
This is how the Dynaudio Contour 20i was perfected – The new Esotar 2i tweeter
Featuring a larger rear absorption chamber and equipped inside with the ingenious Hexis Dome, which further minimizes resonances and results in even lower distortion levels with a smoother frequency response.
New centering spider
New center spider with asymmetrical folding for better vibration behavior – and now made of aramid fibers for even better sound quality.
New crossover
Extensive tweaks to the Contour 2016 have resulted in a simpler, more purist and simply better crossover.
Voice coil
Long stroke voice coil with large diameter
Dynaudio Contour 20i – a further development
The new Contour 20i was designed to outperform every other Contour compact model Dynaudio has ever developed. And it succeeded. The new Esotar 2i tweeter is, so to speak, a turbocharged version of the popular Esotar2.
It now features a larger absorption chamber for more effective cushioning and the inventive Hexis Dome seen on Confidence, Core and other models. Together, they flatten the frequency response and reduce unwanted resonances for even clearer, smoother highs. The woofer has also been optimized.
It’s still made of Dynaudio’s proprietary magnesium silicate polymer (MSP) material, of course, it’s still driven by a lightweight aluminum voice coil, and it still uses a vented dual-ferrite magnet system – but behind the distinctive black Membrane is a brand-new centering spider.
The Dynaudio Contour 20i in a timeless design
Making a Contour without the characteristic baffle would be like making a car without wheels. Unthinkable. But there’s always room for improvement – and Dynaudio’s designers love to stretch their legs. This baffle is made of aluminum and is recessed into the cabinet.
The curve of the baffle is continued in the chassis basket – this not only looks good, but also reduces unwanted high-frequency diffraction effects for clearer highs and provides a solid foundation for the drivers to work from.
A solid foundation means improved performance at high volumes even at low frequencies.
