The brand new Townus Speaker: created for the urban lifestyle – from the heart of the Taunus. Full of pride, Canton presents to you the “Townus”, with which they want to appeal to all people who care about timeless design and high-quality appeal. In reference to the roots and the location of the company headquarters, in the middle of the Hessian Taunus, the same sounding name Townus was created for the new Speaker.

The newly created Townus series captivates with its timeless, elegant design and high-quality materials – ideal for urban people who value design and quality. The word Townus also refers to the connection between the modern and vibrant life of a city and the rather quiet and rural Taunus, where the creators of this timeless and modern Speakerhave their origins.

The Townus 90 – Perfect in form

The Townus 90 3-way floor-standing loudspeakers captivate with timeless elegance due to their restrained elegantly designed Gehäuse and the noble surfaces. Harmonious proportions, rounded cabinetand the screwless integration of the drivers into the slim baffle makes Canton’s Townus 90 a gem in any living environment.

The rounded cabinet not only give the Townus 90 an elegant look – they also improve the sound dispersion of the Speaker.

Flawless surfaces in silk matt or high-gloss lacquers as well as noble real wood veneers with a perfect finish underline the premium claim of the new Townus Speaker.

Other visual highlights include the high-quality aluminum rings of the Speaker, which are manufactured using the Seamless Diamond Cut process, and the fabric panels, which are rounded at the corners and adhere magnetically to the baffles. Last but not least, the shapely wooden base with four metal feet serves as a solid foundation for the slim floorstanding speakers.

Hidden from the listener’s view, the large bass reflex port in the Gehäuseprovides a downward extension of the frequency response. Due to the downfire arrangement of the bass reflex port, the room is acoustically stimulated evenly – precise, deep-reaching bass without any tendency to drone is the desired result.

Design and technology

The solidly constructed cabinet the Townus 90 three-way floor-standing loudspeakers are stiffened several times on the inside and equipped with high-quality internal wiring. Strategically placed damping material within the cabinet and selected crossover components of the highest quality optimize the sound of the Speaker, which weigh about 24 kilograms.

State-of-the-art are the four drivers that provide the well-known good Canton sound in the slim Townus 90 Speaker. Three 174 mm drivers, with titanium diaphragms, enable dynamic bass and detailed, powerful mids. Thanks to the bass drivers with stiff and low-distortion double cone membranes and wave bead technology, the Townus 90 still play precisely and calmly even at high sound levels.

In conjunction with the patented DC technology, the 174 mm bass duo in the downfire bass reflex cabinet reproduces powerful and precise bass without the cones of the bass speakers deflecting uncontrollably on low notes.

The proven 25 mm tweeter dome made of aluminum oxide ceramic shines with its detailed and accurate sound image. A precisely calculated waveguide for ideal sound radiation and coupling optimizes the reproduction of the Speaker, up to 40,000 hertz.
