The NAD MDC BluOS-D – An overview
MDC2 is the second generation of NAD Electronics’ innovative, future-proof MDC (“Modular Design Construction”) technology. Since 2006, owners of certain NAD components have had the option to add new features such as Dolby Atmos®, 4K video, or BluOS™ Multiroom- streaming (retroactively) with MDC modules. First used in the NAD C399 integrated amplifier, the MDC2 features a completely new architecture that transfers signals back and forth between the module and the NAD device. This opens up far more upgrade options for the C399 and future MDC2-enabled components.
Dirac Live® Room Correction
The NAD MDC2 BluOS-D module makes it possible for the first time to use Dirac Live® room correction in an NAD stereo system. First, the room acoustics are analyzed via the supplied calibrated microphone and the intuitive Dirac app, and the resulting correction data is transferred to the MDC2 BluOS-D module.
Dirac Live® not only corrects peaks and dips in the frequency response, but also optimizes the impulse response by learning how sounds are reflected from different surfaces in the listening room. Up to five Dirac profiles for different listening positions and room conditions can be stored. The audible improvements are a much clearer bass reproduction as well as a more accurate mapping and sound color fidelity for music and movie soundtracks.
Bluos™ music streaming
The MDC2 BluOS-D module supports high-resolution music streaming up to 24-bit/192 kHz via the BluOS™ platform. The app to operate the system is available for iOS, macOS, Android and Windows and provides access to hundreds of Internet radio stations and more than 20 streaming services. In the BluOS™ network, up to 63 BluOS™-enabled players can be controlled, and integration into home control systems from ELAN, Crestron, Control4, Lutron, RTI and others is also possible.
Future-proof and flexible
In addition to the latest WiFi and Ethernet protocols, the NAD MDC2 module also supports Apple AirPlay2, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. Bi-directional Bluetooth® aptX® HD enables simultaneous transmission and reception of audio data in highest quality, a USB port allows the connection of a USB data carrier. And of course, local servers with your own music collection can also be integrated into the network.
